We’re kicking off a Featured Photographer series highlighting photographers from all over the world with diverse specialties and styles. It’s been a rough year for photographers, and we’re excited to spread the love and show off some of the amazing art you all have been creating!
We’re delighted to introduce our first featured photographer- Catherine McKinley of Catherine McKinley Photography in Hudson, Ohio.
Catherine started off shooting weddings locally, but over time her business has grown to include family and senior portraits, commercial, corporate, and traveling nationally and internationally for weddings.
Catherine’s work stands out for the way she incorporates true emotion into her classically elegant images. Whether she’s catching playful moments, or quiet kisses, Catherine has a knack for capturing the vibe of the moment.
A little Q&A with Catherine:
How did you get started in photography?
A lot of prayer. Photography was a big lifestyle change for me. I had always loved taking photographs of people and places, but never thought to make it a career. After a challenging year and a lot of prayer, I decided to take a leap of faith and follow a dream. I have never looked back.
How do you define your style?
Authentic, Romantic, Fun and Timeless
What are you known for?
My calming presence on the wedding day and my ability to capture the details and joy of the day.
What do you love most about photography?
Being able to capture memories that will last a lifetime and bring families joy each time they look at them. Watching families start and grow as I photograph my clients from their engagement sessions and weddings through their maternity and family sessions.
How has COVID affected your business?
COVID has had a tremendous impact on my business. Normally I shoot 12-20 weddings per year, this year all of my weddings except one had to cancel or reschedule.
Do you have any photography accomplishments you’re especially proud of?
Early on I had the honor of being nominated and won for Beacon’s Best and the Best of the Knot. It was an honor to be recognized and nominated by my clients.
Do you have anything in the works that you’re excited about?
I’m looking into getting a brick and mortar location to accommodate my rapidly growing portrait and boudoir business.
